NAME:
ST. SATOSIUS CONTRA DRACONEM
CONTEXT:
“St. Satosius Contra Draconem” merges medieval iconography with the disruptive narrative of Bitcoin. Echoing Saint George slaying the dragon, the holy warrior becomes St. Satosius – a symbolic Satoshi Nakamoto, riding a wireframe horse from the digital realm.
Instead of armor, St. Satosius wears running gear with the number 85 – a tribute to Hal Finney, legendary cypherpunk, marathon runner, and the first recipient of a Bitcoin transaction. A reminder that Bitcoin’s myth is also deeply human.
The dragon embodies the old financial order, surrounded by money and coins, burning as a bank collapses in the background. The flaming Bitcoin shield stands against it – both protection and transformation. The rider’s mask evokes the cypherpunk spirit: resistance, defiance, and belief in freedom through cryptography.
Hand-pulled in a limited edition, this screenprint continues the Cypherpunk Now series – a visual mythology of the digital age.
